Yes, I realize it is
way too early to be thinking Christmas but I'm hoping to do a holiday album this season! Hooray! So I was wondering which holiday songs are people's absolute favorites! I have several picked out but I want to make sure I'm not missing any essentials!

Soooo... ideas?

  1. It's NEVER too early for Christmas... one of my faves is 'I'll be home for Christmas'!

  2. :)

so many... i'll stick to only a few

    O Come, O Come Emmanuel
It Came Upon a Midnight Clear
    Coventry Carol
    Mary's Boy Child
    Gabriel's Message

(oh, and there are about 5 more... wink, wink)

  3. I love love love Christmas! Hmm, I have a million favorite songs, but my favorite is probably Do You Hear What I Hear?

  4. I love The Christmas Song by Nat King Cole
...and God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen by Barenaked Ladies ft. Sarah McLachlan

  5. this is sooooo exciting!!!

i love "santa baby" and "little drummer boy."

  6. Uhm, I listen to Christmas songs everyday :) I have on my mp3 the ELF movie soundtrack, it's classic.

    — Sleigh Ride (sung by Ella Fitzgerald)
    — Let it snow (sung by Lena Horne)
    — Sleigh Ride/Santa Claus Party (sung by Ferrante and Teicher/Les Baxter)
    — Baby it's cold outside (sung by Zooey Deschanel herself and Leon Redbone>>>MARVELOUS version)
    — Jingle Bells (sung by Jim Reeves)
    — Christmas Island (sung by Leon Redbone)
    — Santa Baby (sung by Eartha Kitt)
    — Winter wonderland (sung by Leon Redbone)
    — Santa Claus is coming to town (sung by Eddy Arnold)
    — Santa Baby (sung by Eartha Kitt)

    I also love:
    — Little Drummer Boy
    — Jingle Bells
    — Frosty the snowman
    — Silent Night
    — Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer
    — White Christmas

This is a marvelous idea Emma!! I would love to hear any of these sung by you :)

  7. Oh my goodness, Emma! Terrific idea!

I don't even know where to begin with my favorite Christmas songs, but here are a few:

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
    Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
    O Holy Night

  8. ! of my favorites that hasn't been listed yet (I think) - Silver Bells

  9. So exciting!! Can't wait! I love many of those already mentioned but I'd like to second Pat's suggestion of Silver Bells. First American Christmas song I remember from when I first came here as a child!!

  10. i love your rendition of "Santa Baby" ... i hope it makes it to your album! oh, and like Emily, "O Holy Night" is one of my favorites too :)

  11. Ooo, Emma, this is awesome! Never too early for xmas hehe:) Some of my favorites: Baby, It's Cold Outside, Chestnuts Roasting Over An Open Fire, Sleigh Bells. I'm looking forward to ur Xmas album:)

  12. Yay Christmas!! I love a lot of Christmas songs. But some of my favorites are "Baby, It's Cold Outside," "Ding Dong Merrily On High," "He is Born the Holy Child" (mostly because the tune is so fun and upbeat!), "Silver Bells," and there's a song that I've listened to ever since I was a kid called "Christmas is Here Again" by Roger Whittaker and I really love that one too. I can't wait for your Christmas album!!!

  13. Ooooh! I vote for Good King Wenceslaus!

  14. My all time favorite is Mistletoe and Holly, but I'd also vote for Christmas Island, A Marshmallow World and Baby It's Cold Outside :-)

  15. Oh! And Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas :)

  16. Generally all the songs have their own importance that is why we should choose according to our taste so that we can enjoy them. By saying top songs they can not became favourite of all the people because every people's choice is different.

  17. One of my absolute favorites is "The Man With the Bag." I think it's really underrated because it doesn't get recorded very much. But I love it!

    Other favorites:
-I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day
-Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
    -Have a Holly Jolly Christmas
    -Hark the Herald Angels Sing
-It Came Upon a Midnight Clear
    -What Child is This

There's also an obscure song called "Round and Round the Christmas Tree." I think Bing Crosby is the only one who ever recorded it, but it's another favorite. It has a great line: "Round and round the Christmas tree / Opening presents with the family / One for you and two for me / Oh what a Christmas day!"

Thank you for leaving your musings! I appreciate each and every one.
