I think we can all trace our loves back to our very first love - the one standard by whom all others are measured. And usually, that person was, well, fictional. Or at least a celebrity. I think even if it was a really real person, it was usually largely fictionalized in our heads - all the fun details added onto a very attractive template.
So, here was mine - Superman.
I know, I don't mess around. Ha! There is actually film footage of me singing the Superman theme song while swinging on my swingset. I must've been around four. Every man after him (which was all of them, obviously, I was four) has been compared to how close they are to Superman. Was it the flying? The invulnerability/vulnerability clash? The curl? I don't know. But whenever his movie comes on t.v. (and it has to be Christopher Reeve, by the way), I still feel those little butterflies.
Fun fact: when I first met the love of my life, I told my sister he looked just like Superman. So there you go.
Dish, everyone! Who was your first love?
P.P.S. Feel free to follow me! I promise only ever to lead you to bright, sunny places!
I think my first love was probably Robin, Batman's sidekick. No rational explanation why but my five-year old self was extremely crazy about him, haha
ReplyDeleteWhat a great first love! My first love was Jonathan Taylor Thomas the child actor from back in the day.
ReplyDeleteMy first love was my grandfather - my version of a superhero - he made me laugh and feel like I'm the luckiest little girl in the world.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm, mine was a tie between Ralph Macchio and Corey Haim. Hey, it was the 80's! lol
ReplyDeleteI can't remember mine exactly, I had quite a few haha.
ReplyDeleteOMG me too!
ReplyDeleteAlso had a huge crush on the Dukes of Hazzard boys, especially Bo!

Ok... hahaha.... David Bowie in Labrinth (sp?) Surely I can't be the only one?? At least yours was super cool Emma! :) xxx
ReplyDeleteGosh I can't remember mine either! Maybe leonardo dicaprio or johnny depp:)
ReplyDeleteWhat came to mind first was Aladdin. Must have been his free spirit and sense of adventure... and dashing smile and open shirt :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's so lame, but mine was Jack Dawson from Titanic! I think I still have a crush on him :)
ReplyDeleteMine was Ringo Star! My Dad took out the portraits that came with The White Album and put them on the walls around my room! My taste has improved considerably since then!!! Superman - that's pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteThe invulnerability/vulnerability clash? The curl?

My favorite things about Superman. :)
First love...wow...that's stretching my memory. I think I'm with Carrie - it may have been the Duke boys. I still love a guy who can handle a hot rod car. :)
