I've read that macarons may be the new cupcake. I, who love cupcakes entirely, find that difficult to believe.
However, I have not ever had a macaron and, in their favor, they are exquisitely beautiful.
What do you think? Have any of you had macarons before?
I've loved macarons ever since my brother introduced them to me a couple of years ago! They are SO good - you should definitely try them if you get a chance. I buy them from a French patisserie near my place :) Plus, they look super pretty!
ReplyDeleteYou know I am with you in the cupcake camp, but am open to the macaroon. I have had a macaroon before. It was fancy and dusted with bronze powder which got all over everything. This distracted me, and I sort of lost concentration on the flavor, so I can't say if they are good, but I am going to try again soon. You should too and report back!
ReplyDeleteThose are so pretty! I really like the first photo. It makes eating macarons such a sunshiney experience! I admit, I've never had macarons, but after looking at these pictures I'm wondering why this is the case.
ReplyDeleteI had my first taste of macarons in Laduree, Paris and they were wonderful! My favourite was the rose macaron!! They were definitely exquisite!
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, I'm a big fan of cupcakes too!!
Ahhh, I love them both:)
Ooooh, I think you will love macaroons, they are ever so yummy!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog, please come back often!

Macaroons are pretty wonderful and yummy. But if I had to choose I'd be Team Cupcake all the way :)

Macarons are beautiful. My favourites are the lemon, coffee and blackcurrant from Laduree. Eaten under the Eiffel Tower :D
ReplyDeleteHaving said that, you'll never see me turning down cake of any kind!
i've tried some & they are delicious! <3
ReplyDeleteI love macarons ! My favorites are from Ladurée !
ReplyDeleteI love cupcakes! macarons look lovely but to me they aren't as good as a cupcakes, i haven't tried Laduree thought so I might be wrong! Ill let you know if and when I get a moment to go down to Laduree and try them :)

handsdown, cupcakes win for me.
ReplyDeleteI've never tried macaroons either, but they look too good to eat :) They'd be pretty as little ornaments!
ReplyDeleteI'll take them both! nomnomnom. Pastel colours aren't really my thing, though... wonder if they come in black? :P

I've never had this kind of macaroon before. The kind I'm used to are just stacks of coconut dipped in chocolate. But these look gooood!
ReplyDeletei've never had a macaroon before but i've always been dying to try one. i'll have to remember to be on the look out for them. :)
ReplyDeleteI really really really want to try a macaroon. Just for you know.. research into this cupcake versus macaroon madness.
ReplyDeleteI've never had a macaron before, but when the opportunity presents itself I will take full advantage. I think I'll always be a cupcake girl at heart, though :)
ReplyDeleteI do like macaroons...but personally, I prefer a well-frosted piece of cake:)
ReplyDeleteI had some for my birthday, very good. I can't say I agree they are the new cupcake. Both are good in different ways. Have a nice weekend!

I've never had them either, but they do look pretty! I'm always a fan of pretty food, but I don't know...cupcakes are just so classic. They're irreplaceable in my opinion!

Sadly, I have never had any. I will put them on my to-do list :)
ReplyDeleteI actually don't think I've ever had one! They are pretty cute though! :)
ReplyDeleteOh they are so good! I will have to make some this week-end and post the recipe. I want some now!

I have tried macaroons. To be perfectly frank, I must say that personally, I find them far more beautiful to look at than to taste. They aren't bad or anything, but cake versus a flaky cookie-ish thing... I would definitely opt for a cupcake or a petit four instead.
ReplyDeleteHello:)
ReplyDeleteI have never eaten macarons.though i have eaten plenty of cupcakes:)and muffins...
have a happy weekend!
I cannot remember if I've ever had a macaroon. I LOVE all the colors and cute packaging everyone is doing them in these days.
ReplyDeleteI've never had one either!
ReplyDeleteyou know, i keep reading about them, but i've yet to try them. i don't know, it's hard to believe that they're better than cupcakes;D
ReplyDeleteMacaroons are simply a delight on a dreary day. That was actually one of my resolutions, to learn to make some. Chocolate and strawberry-flavored ones have got to be my favorites. Have to do a picnic with tea and macaroons and chocolate someday, you're welcome to join! haha.
ReplyDeleteoh i love macarons! i have heard the same thing about macarons and cupcakes. hope ure having a wonderful weekend!

Macarons are good but i prefer cupcake.. i guess i prefer my desserts to be more indulging :)
ReplyDeleteDo you know I have never tried one....I know, pretty pathetic. I will try one soo I promise. They look so pretty. Thanks for dropping by Beach Vintage.
ReplyDeleteMacaroons are prettier, but cupcakes are yummier :]
ReplyDeleteMacaroons are wonderful but no way will they take the place of cupcakes! lol
ReplyDeleteI would be in team Macaron, they're so delicious!!! But cupcakes are great to :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried them before either, but I want to! I suppose as far as being a fancy, adorable little sweet thing, they are the "new cupcake" - I see them everywhere! Don't know about the taste, though. :)
ReplyDeleteThey are equally delicious! Cupcakes are much easier to find!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy the texture of macarons a little more than cupcakes... but I'd take either :)
ReplyDeleteI love macarons. They are my favourite dessert. I must go to Paris to try the real thing!
ReplyDeleteI cannot pick just one, for both are elegant, alluring, scrumptious and gorgeous in their own right. It really comes down to the mood you're in and what ingredients you have on hand (or where you feel like buying your sweet treats from).
ReplyDeleteOff to go daydream about a world made entirely out of just desserts now :D
Big hugs, sweetie!

I have tried to make macarons twice, and both times it has ended in complete and utter failure. They tasted amazing still, but they were not at all pretty. I, personally, am sticking to cupcakes.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised that macarons taste nothing like how they look. They look delicious, but I'm not a big fan of how they taste.
