We are Living in a Digital World

I just finished submitting my songs to CD Baby and therefore iTunes so my songs will be available for download in the next week or so! A woo and a hoo! But right after posting, I had an impassioned plea from a Twitter follower to release a physical c.d. - which I'm not 100% sure I'm doing.

So, what do you all think? I've copied a paragraph I had written around a year ago when I was first planning to do the album that mentions some of the pros and cons.

The pros to digital only are pretty easy to see- more ecofriendly, less expensive, no concern about storage (the CDs from my first album are taking up prime real estate in my closet), the vast majority of my sales have been digital anyway, easier to track sales and, well, those are pretty much the pros. The cons to digital only are that I couldn't sell them at shows, there are audience members who really aren't into the whole digital music thing and I wouldn't get to have a pretty CD cover and insert. Sigh.

So, my faithful readers/listeners, what is your take? Where you stand on this polarizing issue?

Polycarbonate Plastic or Digital?

As I continue working on getting the songs and budget together for my next album, I have been considering different questions. One very large question that keeps coming up in the business meetings I have with myself is whether I should release my album digital only or actual CD and digital?

The pros to digital only are pretty easy to see- more ecofriendly, less expensive, no concern about storage (the CDs from my first album are taking up prime real estate in my closet), the vast majority of my sales have been digital anyway, easier to track sales and, well, those are pretty much the pros. The cons to digital only are that I couldn't sell them at shows, there are audience members who really aren't into the whole digital music thing and I wouldn't get to have a pretty CD cover and insert. Sigh.

So, my faithful readers/listeners, what is your take? Where you stand on this polarizing issue? Any pros and cons I neglected to mention? Any suggestions for a third option I haven't considered? I anxiously await your response.

Aaaand, now for combatting the post-holiday blues...

I know, Christmas is over.

But... there is still New Year's Eve and before that is a show at Infusion Tea (1600 Edgewater Dr., Orlando, FL 32804) on Friday, December 28th. Pretty amazing.

There will also be a show on Friday, January 11th also at Infusion Tea, so if you're bogged down by obligations on the 28th, you can still make it to a show. Whew.

My last show was kindly publicized in the Orlando Weekly via a lovely CD review; you can read all about it here.

Next year will be filled with wonderful and exciting things so please stay tuned! Thank you all for your constant support.

Turkey Doesn't Make You Sleepy... And Other Seasonal Info

I read that the tryptophan in turkey isn't really what makes you sleepy after a Thanksgiving feast; it's the excess amounts of carbs you tuck away. Interesting, no?

In other news, I'm having a special Christmas deal on my CD - buy two to give away and I'll give you one from me for free! So, no more searching for that perfect, elusive gift - it's at your fingertips at www.iamemma.com.

Also, on my iLike page (http://apps.facebook.com/ilike/artist/Emma), I've uploaded a free Christmas song! If you want it for you, just email me and I'll be happy to send it out.

I've added some stuff to my blog including some of your wonderfully nice reviews! Keep an eye out to see if yours pops up sometime...

Hope you and your family have a Thanksgiving filled with delicious carbs and even more delicious conversations.

All Hallow's Eve Eve!

Happy All Hallow's Eve Eve to everyone! I recently read that many people don't like dark chocolate when they get it in their trick or treat bags. There will be a solution for this perplexing problem if you read to the end of the post.

A couple updates for you and then you can go on your merry way.

1. I have a show at, wait for it, wait for iiiiittttt... Infusion Tea! On Thursday, November 8 at 7:30 p.m. It will be splendid fun for all and I'd love to see each and every person at it.

2. My CD is still for sale online at iTunes (look under 'Emma Wallace') and my website. However, you can also/instead buy it at Park Ave. CDs and the downtown library bookstore (101 E. Central Blvd., Orlando, FL 32801) should you prefer to not get it online. I would appreciate it if, when you go to one of those stores, you clasp the CD to your chest and sigh loudly, "It is just so hard to find this CD anywhere! It's been out everywhere else I've looked!" Then go to each fellow customer and explain your excitement at finding this hard-to-acquire CD. If you remember to, I'd appreciate it.

3. I'm planning my tour for next year so if anyone has a suggestion regarding venues in his/her area, I'd welcome the idea.

4. If you don't like the dark chocolate you get from trick or treating, go ahead and bring it to my next gig (see #1). A perfect solution to a perplexing problem.

Ah... Autumn!

And along with the lovely red leaves (which we don't really get in Florida) and the blustery winds (which are probably too warm to be considered "blustery"), we (well, I, at least) have the desire to feel cozy! And what better way to feel cozy than with a toasty Scotch and soda in your hand! All ye who love late nights and potent brew, I ask to come and listen to me at the Central Station Bar (100 E Central Blvd Orlando, FL 32801) on Thursday, October 25 at 11 p.m. "11 p.m.?!" I hear you exclaim! Yes, indeed, 11 p.m. And a $5 cover. But the proceeds of both attendance and applause benefit the musician so it's a good cause.
I'd really love to see you all there!

In other news, I've been reviewed on two blogs! Both www.musicbyday.com and www.lovethemusicreviews.com have written very cordial reviews. So, you should all read them! And I would truly appreciate those of you who are generous enough to download my CD from iTunes to write a nice review on that as well! Truly, I would. But, remember that you can still buy my CD from www.iamemma.com or from Park Ave. CDs- the store.

I look forward to seeing you all on Thursday, October 25 at 11 p.m.! Happy Autumn!

iTunes... I've arrived!

Is this a day of joy and excitement or what? Not only is it the day that the Beatles were on the cover of Time magazine and the second day of autumn, but my CD is now completely available to everyone no matter what their preference for purchase is! Download? Oui! At iTunes! Hard copy? Oui! At www.iamemma.com (available via PayPal for both credit card and bank account).
So, buy my CD and let me know what you think! And, if you like the CD, please write a review on iTunes. But only if you like it, of course.. :)

O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!

Received my CDs yesterday...
Danced throughout the house like a very happy maniac...
Look forward to doing it again (and for even longer) when my CDs start to sell by the millions...
Shall probably neverdance in a music video - if I know what's good for me, that is...

Tomorrow my music is available for download from Digstation.com. I still need to send in the info to CDBaby before I will be able to sell my music on iTunes and CDBaby. So, I'm going to work on that tomorrow. I'm also thinking of putting my music on Amazon as well as ebay. I'll also be calling all local cd stores and such to see how interested in indie artists they are... But I can hardly wait to get my music out there!
