If I had a nickel for every time I asked this question... I think I'd have around ten to fifteen cents. Which, for a blogger, means I've probably asked this question too many times. However, I still like keeping track of buying trends, especially right before I release an album!
What I'd love to know is how many readers still purchase physical c.d.s when they have a chance and why they do!
I think the last physical cd I bought was for my dad on Father's Day, but that was a couple years ago. He didn't have an iPod at the time so it was the next best option.
ReplyDeletep.s. That is one cute stuffed animal !! I wonder what he's listening to :)

i must admit, i've turned into a downloader slowly over the years. but, i still buy an occasional cd or record on vinyl. if i'm at a show i might, or to add to my collection of favorite artists (even though i just import to the itunes and listen off of the computer.) i don't really know if that helps you one way or the other :)
ReplyDeleteI do buy CDs and vinyl but not as much as I used to. I usually by CDs via ebay (secondhand, to save money...I am a cheapskate, haha) and I shop for vinyl at thrift stores. I don't know, I just like to have something physical in my hand, I guess. Same with books, I really dislike e-books.
ReplyDeleteI do generally buy physical CDs for some 'special' artists, but I'm trending more and more toward mp3 albums. It's difficult to justify paying $10-$15 for a physical CD that I am going to have to then rip and transfer to my phone and laptop when I can pay $3-$9 for an mp3 and get the music instantly.
ReplyDeletei haven't bought a physical CD for so long. i get my music dose from Pandora and the radio. Only when i love it so much i bought the e-version.
ReplyDeleteSimilar situation as the first commenter... I never buy physical CDs for myself anymore. Have not done so in the past 6 years at least. However, I'll occasionally buy a CD for my mother, who has not caught on to the whole ipod/mp3 thing.
ReplyDeleteI love having the physical item, but I don't really like cds (it's the skipping that gets to me).. so it's a conundrum. For the most part I buy vinyl, but that only works for older music (for the most part) so for newer songs I tend to buy mp3s. I miss cover art, liner notes and holding it in my hands though! I really like to have the physical item.. the same goes for books and movies. I much prefer the paper book, or the vhs or the dvd, to a file on my computer :)

ReplyDeleteI much prefer having a real, physical cd. I love the album art and having a track list.
ReplyDeleteI also really enjoy having an official c.d. that I can take places and play in different players, it looks beautiful, the sound quality is great and c.d players often know the track names. The radio station's players hate home burned c.d.s and I am often asked to bring music to play in friend's cars, homes and at events. C.D.s are the easiest way to play music for a lot of people since everyone has a c.d. player but not everyone has adequate speakers for mp3 players.
C.d.s also make great gifts. I bought your Reason To Stay Up All Night c.d as a gift for my mother (who would never download anything but is a fan of yours) and at least two friends at different times and if you make c.d.s of your lullaby album I will buy it for all of my friends with small children.
I still like to buy CDs - to have the disc in my hands, to view the art, and read the liner notes. I'm not opposed to downloading and do so from iTunes on occasion, but I rarely, if ever, listen to music on mobile devices save for my laptop (which is mostly filled with CDs I've uploaded! hehe). For some reason, I can be scatterbrained about downloading, too. There are certain titles I know I want to purchase (like yours, *blush*), but sometimes it takes me foreverrr to get around to it.
