Cozy as a Pumpkin

Knit Sleeves from Marion Renee here

Inspired by my Cinderella theme for the week and by the advent of MY FAVORITE SEASON EVER fall, here are some cozy (and, let's face it, a few months off need-wise in Florida) creations on Etsy that are pumpkinlicious.

Mothers-to-be-Day

So, as I'm sure you aren't able to forget, due to the emails from every retail place that exists, Mothers' Day is on Sunday.  If you happen to have a friend who is a mama-to-be, getting her a gift would be unexpected but would endear her to you for life.  And who doesn't want that?

Here are a couple ideas for sweet gifts for someone who is expecting:

1.  Epsom salts - perfect for achey, swollen feet.  And if she's one of those amazing women who wear heels throughout their pregnancy, she'll need it even more.
2.  Oil - there are a ton of options for moisturizing sore and itchy pregnant skin but what I ended up loving the most was this lime-infused organic olive oil I found at Whole Foods.

3.  Eye pillow - these are wonderful any time but when you're pregnant, you are limited in pain relief options so it's nice to have something natural at hand.
4.  A tank top with a shelf bra - I looooooved these for sleeping in when I was pregnant!

5.  Aaaand, a mommy mug.  That was my Mother's Day gift when I was pregnant and it made me so happy!

Happy Groundhog Day! Almost...

From Amber Alexander
I just wanted to wish you a happy, happy first day of February and a merry Groundhog Day Eve.
Here in Florida, I think we've had, hmmm, two cold days all season? Maybe three? So we aren't really hurting for Spring quite yet.  But I'm still a fan of adorable groundhogs, shadows or not.

What about you? Are you hoping for Spring or have you not gotten much of a Winter either?

Gifts for Girl-With-More-Expendable-Income-Than-You

Gift Guides for the Hard-to-Buy-For

from Cabin Fever, LLC
From Illuminated Perfume
from Vintage Confections

from naomilynn

Okay, so I've got a friend.  A sweet, wonderful friend who buys herself designer things and only designer things.  Well, I confess that I don't buy myself designer-things much less anyone else that.  So here are some ideas to give the girl who buys everything...

P.S. Be sure to stop by on Wednesday to listen to my podcast for more great gift ideas!

Gifts for Dad

Gift Guides for the Hard-to-Buy-For

So, I do have an EP coming out very, very (very) soon but I'm still making my way through some administrative, technical, etc., etc., stuff.  Therefore, I'm taking a brief moment to make a gift guide.  Well, hopefully I'll take several brief moments throughout the month because I used the plural form of 'guide' in the title and it'd be pretty embarrassing if I only had one guide.

But, anyway, I know dads (favorite uncles, etc) are notoriously hard to buy for.  They don't like candles (at least won't admit to it) or soapy stuff but you know they want something.

So here are some ideas I thought might be swell.  Rounded them up at Etsy (as per usual) because shopping small business and indie designer is best.

Earrings, Ahoy!

Pink Sherbet Blossom
The Last Leaf

Acorn Earrings

My Halloween special podcast featured the remarkably charming work of Molly the Pirate (a real pirate! Not really).  I love how she places them in such creative collections.  There are a lot of great jewelry shops on Etsy, but hers is one of my absolute favorites.

And, as a clip-on wearer, I love that she'll gladly make any earring set clip-ons.

Enchanted Shoes

I saw these shoes on the front page of Etsy and just had to post about them!  Aren't they exquisite?

Ice Cream and (as?) Lollipops
Vintage Confections

Orange Creamsicle
Root Beer Float
Mint Chocolate Chip

Neapolitan ice cream

While drifting through Etsy on a sugar-hunt, I came across these beauties from VintageConfections.  I'm normally a chocolate and baked goods kind of girl, not really into hard candy, but these are so adorable, I may have to revisit the land of lollipops.

Since (spoiler alert!) this week's podcast is sponsored by ice cream, I thought these flavors particularly appropriate.

Yummmmmmm...

Circus Came to Town...

Karolin Felix

What a Novel Idea

On Wednesday, I did a circus-themed episode of Rose-Colored Radio Show so I thought today I'd showcase some gawgeous circus-themed jewelry from Etsy.

Tramps and Thieves

I'm not really able to be much of a jewelry girl since I have some 10-month-old fingers that are very grabby but that doesn't mean I can't stock up, right?

And In July, a Lemonade...

From Vital
From Yevgenia

From Route 4 Glass
From Jo Clark Design

I wanted to do a post on handmade glassware for lemonade during these beastly summer months (and for Southern Hemispherites, relief from that beastly heater) and, lo and behold, there are approximately one zillion gorgeous/adorable shops that sell handmade glassware!  I was trying to think of how to make this into a weekly series - "Glassware with Emma"- but decided to focus on the subject at hand which was tumblers for lemonade.

So here are some of my amazing finds from Etsy that will bring your summery lemonade-drinking up to an art.

Just as a warning, there may be a wine-drinking post coming up sometime...

A Makeover for Your Blog

slightlyterrific

Pic from here

So, I'm certain you've noticed the wonderful redesign my blog has had by the hand and mouse of Ms. Kate Gabrielle!  And now she's opened an Etsy shop for it!  How exciting!

She has everything from an entire blog overhaul to an illustrated portrait for a blog header.  If you want your blog to stand out in the sea of blogs, (in the crowd of blogs? In the gaggle of blogs? In the hive of blogs?) you should see what magic Kate can work on it!

Paper or... Paper

the Filigree

Mermaid Paper Doll

Dragon Paper Doll
Mermaid Paper Doll

I stumbled upon this shop, the Filigree, when it was featured on Etsy's front page.  I think I played with paper dolls more than real dolls when I was little (in actuality, I know I played with paper dolls more).

These are beautiful and a little bit eerie but I would have loved to have had several of these to play with as a child.  They are made by Martin Obakke and Celena Cavala - a husband and wife team - he does the art and she makes the dolls.

I take back what I said before - I think I want one now!

What do you think?  Were you a paper doll person or a dolly doll person?

Give Me an Earl over a King Any Day

Earl Grey Solid Perfume
Earl Grey Shea Butter Soap
Earl Grey Sandwich Cookies
Earl Grey Caramels
Earl Grey Lollipops
I know it's not quite the season for hot tea, but, to be honest, that's never stopped me from drinking it!  One of my favorites, Earl Grey, is such a gorgeous flavor and tastes like how I imagine a field of flowers smelling after the rain.

But why limit the perfect flavor to drinking it?  Here are some (of many, believe it or not, fellow Earl Grey fans) Earl Grey treasures found on Etsy.

Earl Grey Cream
And here is my very, very favorite Earl Grey blend - Earl Grey Cream made at my favorite local tea shop, infusion tea.
